How come when you're an attractive woman and you tell other men that you're a lawyer, they feel uncomfortable and don't want to date you because you make more money than them or your dates don't last very long. But when you tell men you're a flight attendant or a bartendar or a waitress or a stripper you get more dates and men find you more attractive? What's up with that?
Why do men feel emasculated because a woman makes more money than them?

I'm not a lawyer, I'm just talking in general terms.

You men say you don't care how much money a woman makes? But watch when you go out on a date.
You can't say that about women when it's about how men carry themselves as well.

a few reasons. one men are very competitive by nature. two men are mammals and primates...we have the alpha male complex where we are the ones that need to provide for our family and suport them and protect them, much like silverback gorillas lets say. three, men have been socialized (unfortunately) to believe women are inferior to them one way or another. myabe if not socialized directly but society leads us to believe that one way or another, because of this idea we have, we feel obviousy that we should be superior in all ways, if a woman make smore money..theres our pride hurt, because it goes agaisnt whatwe have been lead to believe since we were kids and getting sometimes preferential treatment from teachers and parents. im not advocating this thought (ithink otherwise) just stating the way society has influence our thoughts

I would say it depends on the woman and the way they carry themselves...
I don't care how much a g/f of mine makes as long as she can support herself, and together we both put into the relationship... you need a "dual income" to get ahead in this world really. But I don't think about "how much money she makes" when getting into a relationship.. It's 50% communication and 50% intamacy for me...
Perhaps your throwing up a wall or sending out a vibe that you didn't know you are that's causing this... Maybe they feel that your saying your better than them ?
Or perhaps you've just found guys that want nothing more than sex...
I'm 29 and I'm having no luck in the dating scene either.. so your not alone by any means.. =(

I would love to meet a lawyer who makes a ton of cash. I still think it is important for a man to be the man in a relationship, but financial security isn't the only thing to offer(though it is kind of a big one). I can't really speak for every other man, so I my guess is that they want to be the provider because it is the most basic and simple thing for a man to do in a relationship.

I've had that problem in the past. Turned out it was MY problem, not the man's problem.
See, I was picking the wrong kind of guys to have dates with or relationships with. Once I found a man who was self-confident and not threatened by an independent woman, it was heaven!

I love it when women make more money than me, call me a kept man if you want I don't care. It has to do with your looks and personality and having more money can even improve those.

They are intimated by women who have better jobs, make more money. The women's standards are higher and the men feel that they have no chance with them.

because men were brought up to be the breadwinner and SOME men feel insecure when they come in contact with women who are more of a breadwinner than they are. so they will choose women who are below them in statue.

Strippers make more than lawyers, so maybe it is not the money. Maybe they just do not like lawyers.

Insecurities can make some men behave in an unreasonable and unexplainable manner sometimes.

Apparently my ex-husband doesn't. His wife makes way more than he does and he appears to be fine with it. He was emasculated long long ago.
