It depends on the person... If you have a hard time making the grades in school then you need more time to prepare...

Some people can prepare for months and still not get a good grade, i've known others who didn't do any preparation at all and still got a perfect score...

The SAT is a test that measures how much of your high school education has been retained (math and language arts). If you get decent grades in school, I think you should only need to prepare minimally. Four hours a day for a month is way overkill. The only prep I did when I took the exam was to make sure I had 2 #2 pencils and got there on time, and I scored a 1350. I'm no genius, so it's not an impossible feat. I do recommend talking the PSAT so you can get a feel for how the exam is set up. If you're concerned about getting into a good school, keep in mind that review boards look at more than just SAT scores and more than just academic performance in general.

well..it's depend on what is your definition on good score. above 1600? above 1800?? above 2000? I'm an international student who have just taking SAT this October, and for me even 4 hours a day for a month are way more than enough. (on the simulation i got 1600, btw). Actually, sat I isn't very hard, especially for those of you English native speaker. For me, the most difficult section is the critical reading section, where there are a lot of questions about vocab that i didn't understand. The math section in other hand, only asking the basic math questions. even though, i can't guarantee,,everyone can do the math section easily..it's depends on how difficult the question on that day. I've practice several types of sat. sometimes the math section is easy, sometimes it isn't. bottom line is do the best that you can do..LOL..good luck!!

it depends on person to person. but my advice as teacher is that if just one month is left for your SAT then you should devote 6 hours a day. if 6 hours are not possible because of some definite reason then use 4 hours but with full concentration.
best of luck.

Its much better to do a little each day over a few months so the knowledge becomes engrained into your memory cos otherwise you'll be overloaded and end up pushing out the previous days work each day! Im lucky cos i can cram but its better to be completely clued up than unsure after last minute revision!
