If he has the big speakers and radio that a lot of people have in a car they are draining the battery. Try a bigger battery that will put out more amps to carry all the things attached to it.

If he doesn't have a large amp that could be draining it, I have another suggestion. The plug that goes into the alternator may have a short in it. We often change the alternators but not that old plug that goes into it. My 84 Le Sabre just gave me the same trouble. I changed almost everything you can imagine and it ended up being than simple little wire. Check his wiring because a wire that's not taped properly could also be touching something metal, grounding it and causing the alternator to not be able to properly charge the battery.

It sounds like you got something pulling it down. Check and make sure that any aftermarket electronics are not hooked straight to the battery, but through the ACC or antenna that only come on when the ignition is on. Other than that you could have a small short somewhere, my alarm was causing the same issue so I had to unhook it.

generally its a battery or altenator start the car let it run then disconnect the positive cable if it dies its the alternator they arer notorious for going bad quickly the "tecs" at advanced auto act like they know their stuff but usually dont try the test i mentioned if it turns out it dies drive it to where you bought the alternator and show them make them replace it also check the ground wires on both battery & alt also follow your battery cables they run close to the exhaust they can get burnt and be grounded out

For now, after the battery is charged, disconnect it when not needed. There is something "on" that is draining the battery. This takes time to find and fix.

How old is the battery? Get a DieHard from Sears.

you either have a dead short in the wiring, or your voltage regulator is faulty.
