Hmm...This was recently on the Tyra Banks Show. There are 3 types of pony tails. High for when you're going somewhere fancy whether it be a dinner party or a prom, in the middle when you're going to the gym, and low at the base of your neck for a chic but professional look. Of course the low ones don't look good on everyone so you'd have to decide for yourself. I would say don't go with a high one. If you're working in an office you don't want to give off that young party look which this can do.

I think it looks fine as long as you use the right accoessory to hold it in place. If it's something that you might see on a young girl, teen, at the gym, at a prom, etc... then it's not a good idea to put in your hair for work. Go window shopping at the mall. Look at the ponytail holders and other clips, barrettes, etc.. that stores like Ann Taylor, Chinco's, or some other business to casual women's store carries. It will give you a pretty good idea about how you can modernize your ponytail and make it look professional for the office. It should be something simple and mature, like a black elastic band with a silver accent. Nothing loud or bright, and no bold patterns and designs.

Sure! I did it for years, as I have very long hair and didn't want to cut it. For work, I either wore a high ponytail, a low ponytail at the nape of the neck -- this worked better for me since my hair is so thick and heavy, it wouldn't stay up without a lot of clips and pins -- or a side ponytail, a braid, a bun -- again, zillions of pins to hold it up, and on casual days, I had it in pigtails. I hardly ever wore it down at work, as it just seemed overpowering and would get in the way.

Personally, I don't think that a high ponytail looks professional - it looks like a teenager going to the mall.

Yes, just keep it sleek. You can also take a small section from the back and wrap it around the band. That looks very pretty and polished!

just don't wear a scrunchie! I've worn my hair like this for a long time and love it. I think as long as you are dressed professionally and not 'slouchy' you should be fine.

Looks can be decieving. If you keep using "where" in place of "wear", they will realize that you aren't very professional, no matter how you look.
