Famous ballet dancers have, of course, spanned the centuries and have spanned the nations. A wonderful compilation of the names of the great ballerinas can be found on the website http://www.ballerinagallery.com/.
Some of the renowned male dancers include Nijinsky, Diaghilev, Fokine, Baryshnikov, Nureyev); but today, some of the most notable male ballet dancers can be seen in the company, American Ballet Theatre, and come from all over the world-- for example, Cuba (Carlos Acosta, Jose Manuel Carreño); Kiev, Ukraine (Maxim Beloserkovsky); Argentina (Herman Cornejo ); Brazil (Marcelo Gomes); Spain (Angel Corella); and America (Ethan Stiefel, from Wisconsin, and David Hallberg from South Dakota).
