The alternator or voltage regulator is failing
A failing voltage regulator could be allowing the alternator to be putting out too much voltage. Your battery would be fully charged. Too much voltage can cause expensive damage to your vehicle computer and other electronics
If the light flickers at idle, it could be a loose or bad belt.

Ok it could be a lot of things, could be a short, could be loose cables, could be your battery is going bad, could be your alternator. Or it could just be flickering some cars just do that.. My best advise is to take your car down to advance auto parts and have them do a starting and charging system test. They do it for free so you are not out of anymoney and it will let you know if anything is wrong. dont take it to a shop yet... most of them charge a fee.. take it to advance first

the battery or the alternator. you can go to a shop and have them check the voltage on the alternator and see if it's bad. They are expensive.

maybe your alternator is going out or some loose connection in the electrical system .maybe a break in the syste some where . .you don't mention what kind of vehicle it is so there is a multitude of different things it might be . ...switches, lights, connections, alt. starter, ect...... as long as the alt.is chargeing and the alt.belt is not slipping or broken .
