They're always looking for any illegal advantage (pine tar and shaving cream for pitchers, and steroids for hitters), and the supposed authority does not make people accountable. THey would rather look the other way. The more serious transgressions, as in steroids, are law violations, and they should go to jail, instead of being slapped with a fine or suspension.

There's too much cover up - no integrity.

It happens in all sports. For some reason baseball gets the spotlight when something like this happens. Look at what happened yesterday in the NFL with Shawne Merriman's suspension. I have barely heard a peep about one of the best defensive players using drugs. Give me a break it happens everywhere people either blow it out of proportion in baseball or look the other way in other sports that's your decision to look at.

It's not just baseball, it's all sports. I agree that they should get more than a slap on the hand. They get paid a lot of money for what they do. They should do it fairly. Unfortunately, when so many start cheating, it becomes contagious. Others feel they need to do it in order to compete fairly. Maybe if they got bigger punishments, it would all go away.

It is not just MLB, it is ALL professional sports. Look at Track and Field and cycling and football. Someone is always looking to get that edge. It's an inernational thing, too. Check out the Olympics. It's not lying and cheating unless you get caught, right? My objection is, when they DO get caught why can't they just admit it and take their punishment. Barry Bonds is a joke! This year's "Smudge-Gate" is just old news resurfacing. Any one remember George Brett?

That smear on Rogers' hand? Steak sauce!

In no way would he put pine tar or chewing tobacco or spit of any other brown substance to alter the trajectory of the ball. That would be cheating!

You've probably done it before.

Because MLB is a microcosm of America itself: a place where liars and cheaters are on top.
