Given the minority is always suggested ( as was on TV last night Monday) that they are being ostracised, why do we also feel threatened by this word Muslim?
when other religions protest, why do we not see words like
" Behead them" or "Kill the infidel" on their placards, why ? why?
A hate we have never seen before apart from in Muslim countries, is now upon us.
"The Vail!" I find this most distressing, as do many of my friends, they are seperating themselves from facial recognition on their own terms, and we cannot or must not object.
I have every respect for those who come into this country and settle within our laws.
We have freedom of speach, or do we?, this is not so these days, to speak out even in jest could surmount to one's execution.
This is very sad indeed, a sad day for a people who have fought for this freedom.
I judge this in it's context, and to feel threatened by a single word, is almost beyond comprehention.
Sad indeed, very sad.

Islam is a primitive religion which has, so far, resisted its internal progressive elements. It's well behind the position that Christianity was in half a millenium ago, and even then we were cheerfully butchering one another (in the Thirty Years' War, the subjugation of Ireland, the French Civil Wars, or you-name-it.) It is a tragedy for them, too; at one time Muslim science and scholarship led the Western world and stood comparison with China.
Some say that eruption of the Mongols under Ghengis Khan, which devastated the thriving Muslim civilization of the Middle East, was the reason why the Muslims turned their back on progress. Their clerics explained this devastation as Allah's judgement for so many good Muslims becoming tolerant and open to other views. (Think of the twits who explained Hurricane Katrina as Jehovah's judgement on _us_ for letting gays have rights.) Whatever the reason, however, about that time Muslim culture became regressive and has remained so despite the example of the West and the work of their own internal intellectuals and mystics. Thus we have people who are perfectly willing to slaughter innocents in order to demoralize other folks (like the Europeans and us) they can't get at directly.
And this willingness, despite being found among a small minority of Muslims, is the reason the civilized races wince at the word "Muslim". Well, the Nazis were a small minority of the German nation, too, and we still come on guard instinctively when the word "Nazi" is mentioned.

Any other major modern religion (and I know people will correct me if I am wrong) has long since left the doctrine of trying to force, by violent means, the belief in their faith on others. Yes, yes, I know that Christians did it for a thousand years, but that method is long out of practice, and Christianity was used as a veil for gaining political and economic power. It wasn't an actual tenant of the religion.
The fact of the matter is that no other religion; Christianity, Judaism, Hinduism, Buddhism, Wicca, Neo-pagan, or any other still preaches the now infamous "spreading the faith by the sword." Why should we be afraid of nearly a billion people whose religion's founder urged them to kill all nonbelievers? Hmmm, I wonder.

You know atheists are people, too. We would dislike having our families killed just as much as a Mormon or a Catholic or a Jew. No, we should not fight an entire religion, because these people you're talking about are extremists and fundamentalists who have gained a strong foothold in many countries because of the exploitation of their economies and lands by Western forces throughout history. It isn't all of Islam that hates us.

It is sad. We are experiencing the tragic consequences of two forces: colonialism and religious bigotry. The first one requires justice to bring the root causes for the anger to an end (justice for the Palestinians). And the second requires that people of all faith traditions stop letting the lunatic fringe of their faith (Jews, Christians and Muslims) from holding the microphone and dominating the dialogue with their ignorance and fear.

We have to live with the Muslims so we might as well get used to it. Here in Dearborn Michigan the Muslims walk around all covered up and dare you to say anything. They do say they will one day take over and will rule the USA. Not sure how they will do that. Wait and see I guess.

we are not afraid of a word. the notion is ridicules. that would suggest that someday the word 'chair' or 'street' could at some point bring fear. rather, there are those that fear what the word 'muslim' represents.the same as there are those that fear what 'war' or 'gun' represent.
the meaning strikes fear because there is such reckless hate within their hearts. anyone that does not believe as they do are precieved as a threat. and any threat is worthy of assanation. that is a scary thought.

I think ,because they have information about Islam and Muslim only from TV & radio etc.and certainly they didnot research about Islam and Muslim themselves & from correct sources.
we shouldnot judge about a thing (islam) due to a person but we should judge upon reality there is.
for example is it correct I research about polotic in a tradecenter?
