Sexual preference doesn't have a lot to do with a persons ability to think about social issues. Only when a persons sexual preference causes problems with social interaction does it become a problem.

I think that this is a stupid question. Why would being gay be a requisite for qualification as a politician. Anyone has the potential to be a good politician? The question becomes whether or not they choose to be.

I don't think Gays can be politicians, to start with it is a sin to be gay and so how can we choose someone who is attracted to his own sex to be a politician. There is a posibility of him getting atrracted to fellow politician who is not gay and this will make the other person to be uncomfortable. So Gays make BAD POLITICIANS

I figure it's about the same as with any other group of people; being a politician isn't about who you are... it's about whether you can a) successfully serve others, and b) get along in shark infested waters.

One thing is for sure, Barney Franks, who is probably the most famous and most unabashed gay in US politics is one smart and articulate guy.

Their sexual preference has nothing to do with whether they make good or bad politicians. It all varies according to the individual.

No better or worse than straights. If intelligence and dedication to doing a good job is the same, then how good or bad they are would depend on how much and what it takes to compromise their values and buy them off.

Good.

They have endured the pain of having to accept in public who they biologically are, something nobody should have to go through in the 21st Century. And they have a hightened level of empathy for the suffering of others.

right now i think gays wouldn't be good...only because the world discriminates against them. Though im not gay i wouldn't know if i would make the world/country make a stand to gay rights but more equall rights....everyone has the right to be treated equally and fairly.
