You and I have something in common - I am also a teacher - difference is you are fed up ....I got made redundant.
However I too feel like you and gave a lot of deep thought to why that should be .... the answer was not that I did not like and was fed up with teaching - it was all to do with the environment I worked in, the teachers (and head teacher) I worked with and the type of children I was teaching.....
My conclusion was that I actually loved teaching, but did not like teaching within the context of schools .....
My answer to my dilemma was to look for teaching-related jobs - those that had the ethos and elements of teaching but in a different context to formal teaching .....
I have found more success and personal satisfaction in taking this approach than I did as a formal teacher ......
I would however agree with (and voted for) the person who said to get out - they are quite right about the damage caused to young minds (and futures) by a disaffected teacher .... that does not mean you are not a good teacher, but that the formal teaching environment is not for you ......
Take a long hard self-review and re-evaluation of yourself - you will find direction .....
Best wishes and good luck

Apply at the State Department as a translator. Also, hospitals and court houses in large cities are required to have translators for all subjects. How about teaching ASL?

I was told by someone in the pharmaceutical sales field that Merck likes to hire teachers because much of what they do is teaching doctors about their drugs. Teachers are people people and work hard. The pay certainly would be better, but the training to keep current is quite time-consuming. Good luck.

Become a border guard, they're gonna be armed soon. Someone pees in your coffee in the morning you can pull cars over at random and make people empty everything they own across the pavement. Don't forget to hold up the pink frilly panties for everyone passing by to see, make it look like they came from the guys suitcase.

i actually have a rather good job you can have if you want it. minimum investmemt, minor overhead, the money is good and honest, but you have to be able to lower and debase yourself for the amusement of others, but I promise you they would never see your face or know who you were. A good imagination, minor acting ability, and some creativity are a must. Find me on the IM and I'll explain more.

If you are sick of your job please please don't listen to the idiot who told you to stay. In most other professions i would advise people to suck it up and just deal with it, but if you hate your job as a teacher then get out NOW! Those kids are suffering because of you, emotionally I am sure, as well as educationally. Get out, quit, walk away. Our children desrve something better than a teacher who hates their job.
