I do agree some do cheat. But to some others this is the only way to get help. May be they do not have anyone else to help them. And they are making an effort to know how to do the homework given rather than copying it form someone else.
When it comes to such as essays...it is always better to just throw the ideas in outline form....so the kids have the topics and starting point they need to proceed. In most cases that is what they are looking for i guess.
While we try to help kids who really need the help....it happens some lazy ones get the help.....it think it is better this way than the really needy not getting help.

I suppose there's no harm in asking for help, but if I were to answer one I'd probably give a very basic outline answer and give a few hints on where to look for more information. I certainly wouldn't do the homework for them, nor answer math problems or other things to which there is only one small answer!

I don't think of it as cheating. Same as asking your parents, friends etc. It show they are interested and want to know about the subject. Is is cheating to look in books for the answer, including school text books. I think cheating is to copy someone elses answers.
Ooops I used spell check.

They either get the answer, or the links to find the answer. Personally I have more respect for those that choose to educate in homework help than those that choose to DO!.... Could be because I am not a full-time contributor......

the real question is, what do yahoo think about people complaining about the content of their homework help category and increasing their points into the bargain.
if you don't like this category, then go somewhere you do feel more pleasantly able to post.

I think questions about concepts and general ideas and things like that are ok, but questions about specific problems or questions requesting essays written--that type of thing--are certainly cheating.

We didn't have anything like this when I was younger---we had to go out and look for answers. I think they should quit being lazy and get off their butt to find answers. I never respond to those questions.

perhaps their parents should be monitoring them closer. they shouldnt be messing around online when they are doing their homeowrk anyway. their parents should help them. but you know it does take a village to raise a child. my kids wont be asking homework questions on here. if they need help i'll put the questions on here for them. just kidding.

Their questions are more serious than many of the questions posted. And isn't it just research anyway?
