I've just learned about this fantastic musical instrument today and I'm wondering if there is a teacher in the Stormont, Dundas & Glengarry counties of eastern Ontario that I could get in touch with for lessons.

I couldn't tell you about any teachers, but, boy, you must like a challenge! A lot of people seem to equate the Stick to being like a ten string bass, and it is NOT. As I recall -I've only played a Stick once, by which I mean, making a fool of myself trying one out in a music store years ago (and I've been playing bass and guitar for fifteen years!)- they are based in the key of C, which means a bit of piano knowledge would come in handy. That and chops and technique up the wazoo...a Stick is a tapping instrument. It does sound funky as hell, though!

Ever heard of a bass player named Tony Levin? One of the best in the business...he plays a lot of Stick on some of Peter Gabriel and Robbie Robertson's records...check out Peter Gabriel's 3rd and 4th albums to hear the man in action.
