I.E I'm looking for a foreign form of currency with the same value as 5 american cents

In Australia (before we changed to decimal currency) a coin of five cents value was called a Fivepence.
I think a shilling was actually 10 pence.

This sounds like a riddle.

"You have two coins totalling 30 cents. One of them is not a nickel. What are the coins?"

The correct answer to this riddle is, "a quarter and a nickel" -- if you listen/look carefully, the questioner said "one of them is not a nickel" -- the other one is!
