stick to your guns - insist recompense for the bed before giving the pc back - she's probably trying to call your bluff and has no intention of taking legal action

Unfortunately you have to give the PC back... as much as keeping it until they pay up for the bed is like a security for you... if i was you i would explain to them that you are happy for them to collect the pc as long as when they do they give you some money for destroying the bed!!!

If they refuse to give money then im affraid its a case of your word against theres... and the police will have nothing to do with it... i sugest write off the bed... get a new one... and give the pc back and end the friendship... move on with your life...

well it will cost her a fortune to actually get legal action, let her she will end up paying thousands for a PC that is not worth that much , that in itself will be amusing.
i would personally try to resolve it nicely... depends what the reason is you fell out.
if its just growin apart then maybe she will be reasonable.
sit down and speak to her and ask her to part with some cash for the bed as its cost you a lot of money, or put it as give us some storage money for your pc and we will call it quits.... can she prove the computer is hers as well, like receipts warranties etc.

It's their computer and you have to give it back. Those are two seperate incidents and you can't decide to take their things to pay for the bed. You should have demanded payment for the damage of the bed immediately.

I wouldn't worry about legal action. It sounds like you might be justified. You could then counter-sue them for the bed. Good luck!

It is all so petty I am not surprised you are not friends anymore.
If the bed was that good it would never have broke in the first place!!
I think your anger lies elsewhere!!!

3 choices I think.......find a solicitor and tell them about your bed. Call their bluff - can they proove it is their computer anyway? Or...just give it back.

Get a lawyer, they owe you for damages done to your bed.
