I started a new job September 5th and was sick and have not ben able to shake whatever I had since as I have not been feeling well. I called in sick once 2 weeks ago and really want to today because I just wanna sleep and get rd of whatever I have . But I am afraid they will fire me for calling off so much since I just started. I feel miserable but can't afford to lose this job.

If you've been sick this long, go to a doctor. It looks bad because you don't have proof of your sickness. Get some confirmation that you're ill, and there should be no problem.

Most companies have attendance policies that say how many unexcused absences you can have in a certain amount of time. Nothing excuses an unexcused absence unless you are eligible for Family Medical Leave or state sponsored leave. An unexcused absence is one where your boss doesn't have a choice to approve the time off/is not notified until it happens. An excused absence is when you request a day off for vacation or an hour off for an appt, etc. This is why some companies call their attendance policies "no fault" policies. No one cares why you aren't at work. The point is you are not there and they have a business to run. Break the policy and run the risk of getting written up or terminated. That is just how it's usually done. People lie so no one can be trusted - that is why these no fault policies exist.

I believe you should go to the doctor and obtain a medical excuse for missing work today. It is important to get your rest, but even more important to make certain you are not REALLY ill. You may have an underlying medical issue that needs treatment. This is a long time to still be sick. With a medical excuse for your absence, the employer really can't fire you without risking liability for their actions. I'm fairly certain with an excuse you'll be fine. If they fire you anyway, seek damages by contacting your local unemployment office and OSHA office. You have rights, even though you are a new employee. Hope you feel better!

U poor thing! It really depends on where u work. But I would go to a Dr. If it has been this long u might need to c a doctor. At least then u will have document ion that u were being treated by a doctor so u weren't just calling off.
Good Luck and I hope u feel better soon

Talk to your boss - he may work with you on it. You made need to take a Medical Leave to shake your illness. Maybe he will let you work from home or come in a few hours a week to keep the work up. I find that most not all bosses will work with you if you are not scamming them for time off. Also offer to get a note from you doctor and pulls alot of weight.

Try going in and at least working a 1/2 day. Your boss will see that you are indeed sick, but are putting in an effort to go to work.

Hope you feel better soon!

I used to go to work with a fever because I couldnt call in sick. I stayed away from cooworkers! I had to go in because I had the kind of boss who thought anyone who called in sick was faking!
If you have a good boss who understands and you really cant get out of bed then stay home and get well.

I would go. At the very least to show you are putting in a good faith effort and are honestly sick. That way, they can actually see you dragging tail and know you aren't just lying.

If it gets bad enough, they'll probably just send you home. Not smart risking the health of the entire staff to keep one person working.

Go to work and spread your disease around.

Seriously, though, it really depends upon what kind of work you're doing. If its anything entry-level, just go to work and be miserable there. You might feel better with some activity.

go to work because they will fire you. Talk to the boss and ask him what to do maybe if you finish your work early he will let you go home early. You need some doctors excuses also to cover, at least talk to them.
