It was a movie. For the benefit of those who dont read tamil the title is KANNIL THERIYUM KATHAIGAL which translates as "Stories in the eyes". It was produced in 1980 by actor A.L. Raghavan . The specilality of this movie was that it had FIVE music directors-each scoring a song. The music directors were - GK Venkatesh, TR Pappa, KV Mahadevan, Shankar-Ganesh and Illayaraja. It had Sharathbabu as hero, Sripriya as heroine and, Vadivukkarasi in the cast. While the songs scored by the elders, with two initials each , faded into oblivion, two others were famous.

300 worked because it was a graphic novel. You know why I say that. Silence worked, but I do fear that was a fluke. The Potter movies are doing a good job though much has to be left out of course. And there, is the problem. The freedom the writer has cannot be used on screen, nor can emotions shown on screen be described as well as they are seen. I have yet to see an adaptation which I would say "That was faithful to the book" though I do enjoy what they have done with Potter. Damn it Dalek.. I answered seriously. Oh wait... yeah sure let Timberlake play the part. One flake deserves another. {YES!!! Got one in!}
