i've recently aquired a n reg vw corrado storm and the wheels are lookin a bit tatty and need a referbish but rather than pay to have it done being the tight ar*e i am i decided to have a crack myself. i found a can of simoniz 5 wheel silver in the shed and away i went bout ma buznis. I've done 1 wheel and it looks grey rather than silver! help

get them blasted prime and flat with 1000 wet and dry,grey scotch-brite hard to reach areas-then apply the base coat in thin layers - or the metallic flakes will sink giving a dark appearance -on the last /third coat just hold the can further back and without shutting off haze randomly over the wheel till evenly sparkly - use a tack cloth once dry to remove dry spray and top coat with clear lacquer 2-3 coats should do it

depends on how tatty the paint is to start with if you just spray on to the old paint there's a good chance it'll just flake off, they really need shot blasting and a few good coats of primer before paint and laquer

now what you want to do is give them a few coats of clear laquer. this will give them a shine . thats how a modern car is shinny ....base coat and clear .
