This is a serious issue for me and I would prefer that adults answer this. I am in my early 30s and I am having horrible mood swings and migraines that begin about a week before the start of my period. I went to my gyn and he says that he would like to put my on hormones that would actually cease my period all together since it has such an negative impact on my daily activities. Is there anyone that has actually used the "pill" that stops or lessens the amount of periods that you have in a year. If you have what can I expect? I also encourage real health care providers to respond to this also. I do have a gyn and I do ask him questions, but I want the view of REAL people that have experience with this and not a medical book. Thanks for any input that you have.

Yes the pill will help you out a lot. I was put on it for heavy flow and mood swings----worked wonders. I felt great. No messes, cramps and a very short cycle.

I have been using the Depro Shot for 7 years. 1 shot every 3 months. I loved it no cramping no period I would spot every once in a great (no more needed than a lite day pad and was no more than less than a day) while but that was usually before i needed to get my next shot.. I was somewhat concerned at 1st not having a period but my GYN reassured me it was fine. Some say the shot causes weight gain but I think that is a mind thing. But then again not everyone is the same. i would suggest u try it...... to see how your body reacts

Provera will temporarily stop your period, I had to be on that when I had dysfunctial uterine bleeding. (I'm 32) I dont' know much about pills that will altogether stop your period, but if your dr is telling you about it, it may be a possible avenue for you to go. . however, what are the effects of pregnancy after this pill? Will you want kids later? Also, I found out through my string of recent period problems that I cannot take estrogen. .. I got a blood clot on the pill. (Just mentioning how our hormornes are so touchy and pills can screw us up). After my blood clot was addressed and under control, I ended up having a uterine ablation to stop the bleeding, and I no longer get a period. But I cannot have anymore kids, either. (It's ok with me, I have three.) Have you looked up your problem or the pill your dr is talking about on google? I google everything! LOL! Good luck.

yes there is ways of stoping your period but at this age i was told its not good not to have one at all. The pill that lets you have only four periods a month sounds good but i havnt used it. I used the depo shot and i went 5 yrs with out anything more than spotting around every six months but i got meaner than a bear craping razor blades about three days befor the time for the next shot

if you are prescribe the pills and get the 28 pack you can just not take the sugar pills which are the reminder pills and start a new pack and that will cease your period. i personally wouldn't do it but it is ok. I get bad moods and cramps but i still would rathter have a period than not. its part of being a woman.

I would be very reluctant to do this, you are so young. Have you tried herbal supplements. Many women suffer from extreme cases of PMS symptoms and herbal supplements have helped. May be worth a try before something so drastic. There is a reason you body goes throught the cycle every month. Good Luck!
