well . I can't also say that THE WINE IS READY TO DRINK is correct because in this case, it is an active sentence wherein the doer does the action. The doer here is the wine and of course, it cannot drink., right?
It's more possible to use passive sentence wherein we must use the past participle after the be verb. So inthis case, it must be the 'wine is ready to be drunk'.
However, I go for THE WINE IS READY FOR DRINKING, too...

yes, I like "the wine is ready to drink", because when you say the wine could be drunk, it is the same word as if I drink a lot of wine and I am drunk. The wine could be drunk? Drunk wine? What?
Another option is "The wine is ready for drinking."

Gramatically, yes you are right, but you'll a fool of yourself saying//writing that with an exclamation! Anyways,
The wine is ready for drinking.
The wine is ready to be drank.
The wine is served.
You cant say 'The wine is ready to drink' because, im sorry to say that the wine don't drink anything, the are non-living (please excuse my poor sense of humour here ) ;p
you could use any of the above. better to avoid the drunk i guess..

The sentence is technically correct but you would be better off writing 'The wine is ready for drinking.' However, I would warn you that yahoo answers is not the place to be asking about your grammar as the grammar on this site is usually atrocious. Just looking at other answers to this question made me cringe. So beware!

A better sentence would be; The wine is ready for drinking. Technically, your sentence is correct, but it sounds, for a lack of a better word, sloppy.

In English you do not use a passive verb instead of an active. The sentence should "ready to drink".

`The wine is ready for drinking.
