No, it gets really boring once you're at lunch and you're trying to think of topics to talk about that don't include big words. I always have to rephrase whatever I say to the neighbors because they stare at me when I use the word "recalcitrant" or such. I have to be a walking thesaurus for those who don't use big words.

If the person is doing it just to show off, then, yes, it could be annoying. I prefer that, if someone is going to use a long, difficult word, that he or she should know its meaning and how to use it in a sentence. Otherwise, what's the point? Cheers!

Ugh...I'm one of those people that use long, difficult words (apparently). It's aggravating...I mean I hate it...when people accuse me of purposely using big words in a sentence to look smart. Guess what guys? It's f-ing natural for me, get over it! But seriously I try to avoid the really fun big words like perspicacity when in casual conversations.

Hm... depends on how I feel, I guess. Sometimes, simple conversations are the best. However, I don't like having conversations filled with words that I don't know! It just confuses the heck out of me...

Don't know about it being "fun".
But I like a person to utilize more of our remarkable words.
The net and mobile texting is shortening and altering enough of our language.

Hell, I don't even know any that have more than a half a dozen letters or so. So, talk away.
