Are you kidding! I am not going to watch baseball, when at the very same time they are running the beginning of the hockey season on another channel.

And I am COMPLETELY mad at FOX for carrying the baseball at all, because they have suspended my two most favourite TV programs (House and Bones) for the duration!!!

That is why there are record low numbers for the World Series. People are PISSED because we are not being given a fair chance of choosing what WE want to watch, so we are watching NOTHING!!!!!

This is good for baseball. The reason so many people watch the Yankees in the World Series is because their fan base is mostly fair-weather fans from around the country and even the world. Fans need to be spread out more evenly so that the ratings DONT have this problem. Also, it doesn't help when the huge number of Yankee fans are too close-minded to watch other teams play. And why do you care about the ratings anyways, its not that you're getting less money, its that you're a spoiled fan who is too much of a baby to congratulate the Tigers and Cardinals for having better ball clubs than New York.

It was low, but there was also a 44% jump to Game 2, which is probably encouraging for Fox. Of course they'll never match what they'd get with a Yankees-Dodgers matchup, but that's just because the markets simply aren't nearly as big.

I can live with the low ratings, though - anything is worth it if it means getting to listen to you and other Yankee fans crying.

Low ratings?
If I tuned in to watch the Yankees, I would also be rooting against them, unless they were playing the Mets. Then it really wouldn't matter b/c I can't stand either team. Mets most of all.

Nobody cares. Baseball needs a marquee teamin it's post season to generate interest. The Tigers are no cinderella, they led their division for most of the year till they blew it in the last month of the season, and the Cardinals wouldn't have made the playoffs if they were in any other division in baseball, they are cinderella.

Look for this to be the least watched WS in over a decade. Even with the Kenny Rogers scandal. (believe he was cheating or not, it's still a scandal)

Low ratings won't keep a network from showing the games. I'll bet Michigan got great ratings. And, let's face it. When the Yankees ARE in it most of the people tuned in are there to root against them. I'll be watching.

GO TIGERS!

The ratings have been going down every year. But it's still the best sporting event of the year imo.
The Super Bowl is the media event of the year.
March Madness is up there.
But there's nothing like the World Series.

MLB has no one to blame but themselves. They've managed to disconnect so many markets. People in Pittsburgh, Milwaukee, Kansas City, etc my still be fans of their teams and get out to see a game but they don't care about New York (may hate New York) or Boston or the rest of the league. With no pennant race going on for those teams year after year fans in those small markets become isolated. Their teams are just an evenings entertainment. They have no connection to the rest of the league. And you can count me in that group.

I live near Pittsburgh but I used to be a huge Tigers fan. Even their resurgence which should give hope to small market teams isn't dragging me in. I used to know baseball down to the double A teams. Now I just don't care.

"Baseball is an ***."

I'm not surprised Fabio. I'm sure the ratings in eastern Missouri and Michigan are very high, but elsewhere, im sure its extremely low. I missed all of game 1, but I watched game 2.
