I am designing an online store using monstercommerce and am selling Greeting Cards, Handmade Cards Online. I am thinking of a dark red and purple color scheme with a lot of crisp clean white in the website? Perhaps with some light blue outlines
Does this sound good? What color schemes would you want

White will serve you great purpose. Greetings with any colors will look great with white in the background, while it can't be said for any other color. I like yahoo's color scheme. Simple & good.

DON'T do what 'most' sites do - do your own thing. A strong contrast is good but dark red & purple seems a strange combo. - would have to be more burgundy than purple I think? The best way is to tey them out - do lots of options - ask your friends - fiddle about etc. There is no short cut way to get the right look.

Sounds horrific.

Do away with the red and purple.
Most "professional" sites are either green and white or blue and white.... and people kinda expect that these days.
I think its crap myself, and would rather go for black and... either yellow, turquoise or.... something else.... But professional websites aren't generally black-backed... except in a few fancy cases.

O'course... greetings cards could work with pale red and white (and I mean pale red... not pink).

I would use 2 contrasting colours from the colour wheel i.e. green and red, blue and orange, yellow and purple and so on. Contrasting means they lie opposite each other on the colour wheel and go well together and white on the website will also make it look clean and simple. Good luck!
