the leafs stem up wards before opening out and there are on average 10 m shaped black spotts on each leaf. It has flowered little white flowers. At night all the leafs move inwards into a cone shape and faning out again by morning.

your plant is a maranta better known as a prayer plant , as you can see by folding it's leaves at night . it likes moisture and a regular feed of fertiliser , preferably a liquid one . cut off the old growth and it will produce forever .

Think you should be very worried, I have seen these before and to
be honest i would burn it - I think the problem is that they become very rampant in a short space of time and then start doing all sorts of scary things like eating people - the name of your plant is
triffid. (sorry I couldnt resist and sorry do not have a clue what it is
suggest that you call The Royal botanic Gardens at Kew - plant identification unit)

This plant sounds like a maranta or common name is prayer plant, like moisture and humidity.

could be a cyclamen, i have one that has small pink flowers that close up, so do the leaves at night time, then are open again in the morning
