If the rash is bleeding, play it safe and go to your doctor. The doctor can determine if the rash has become infected with bacteria or yeast and prescribe an appropriate ointment.

In the meantime, give baby a bath in warm water to clean the area and soothe it. Gently pat the area dry and let it air out a bit. The goal is to make the area as clean and as dry as possible before putting anything on it. Put A&D ointment (personal preference) liberally over the rash and rediaper. Until you get the baby to the doctor, consider changing the baby's diaper more frequently than you normally do so that any moisture or waste is quickly removed before it has a chance to settle back against baby's skin.

Sounds like it needs to be treated by a doctor with Nystatin. If the blisters break and bleed, it is most defintely a yeast infection type of rash which will not go away without doctor prescribed medicine. Your baby is worth not cutting corners and listening to old wives tales about this powder and that powder. Your child is worth a trip to the doctor so you can get the proper medicine to clear that up. It is either a staph, strep or yeast infection and nothing to leave to people on here who are not old enough to really give you the best advice. Not saying they are not all old enought to give it, but they don't have the years, I have lived it. Take your baby to the doctor.

go to the doctor? aww lots of new moms here. lol ok use diaper rash cream i like destin, if the rash does not clear up in a day then you should take him to the doctor however i don't recomend taking him now. its just a bad rash. they happen. did he eat anything new recently? that could be the cause. also be sure to change his diaper more now that he has a rash. just a little mosture can make the rash worse. i have taken my first born to the doctor for this and they told me the same thing. good luck and congrats on the baby.

diaper rashes result from moisture exposure for long periods of time. Slightly unavoidable. I've never liked the ointments. It just adds moisture. However, I do really like Butt Paste.
Other than that, my daughter's butt has seen baby powder...
and cornstarch. Cornstarch is cheap and works miracles!!
also, once a day when changing baby, lay her on a towel and let her air out for about 10 mins. She might spring a leak, but the air will really help dry out that rash.

My 10 month old daughter also gets a realy bad rash on her bottom that bleeds when she is teething. We tried all kinds of diaper rash creams and nothing seemed to help.My sister saw her rash and gave me this cream that is for cows when you milk them. It's called Vermonts Best. That is the only thing that cleared up my daughters bottom and got rid of her rash.Good luck.

My kid had a rash like this b4 and I went 2 the e.r. and they gave me those creams like desitin & a.d. which made it worst. My mom told me to use Argo corn starch in the yellow box-( not the 1 in the blue box for laundry) put alot on the bottom & keep the diaper off.The air and the cornstarch dries up the rash within a day.

this happened to my daughter when she was on meds for an ear infection, she had very runny poo due to the meds and this caused her to have a bad rash that also bled a bit, keep her changed, make sure you put something on her to protect her skin, Vaseline works as well as diaper rash creams. then after you have that thickly covering her bottom get out the powder and sprinkle her down. it will go away if you keep her clean and keep any poo from getting directly on her skin. i know its very painful because she cried and cried when i changed her. there is no need to go to the doctor unless you try this and it continues to get worse and not better.

Nappy rash. Leave the nappy off as much as you can. If it is bad (and often nappy rash looks worse than it is) take baby to the doctor or pharmacist.

We used to use an anti fungal powder called Canestan

My son had the same problem once and small amounts of blood was coming out and off the tip of his penis. You should buy some hydrocortisone .05% (one percent is too much for a baby) take a small pea sized amount and mix it in with your regular diaper cream such as desiten or balmex and do this about every other or every two diaper changes.
