All of my dishes have this chalky residue . . . you can actually feel it. My glassware is cloudy. I have a water softener, and it has salt. I can fill my rinse agent dispenser with a rinse agent (which is supposed to last a month), and it empties out in 2-3 washes, so something is not right with that. I have tried using a rinse agent and not using one . . . no difference. To get the chalky stuff out of the dishwasher I used a dishwasher cleaner that I had to run through the cycle when the dishwasher was empty. Worked great . . . but it was all back the very first time I did a load. I am using Kirkland Powder detergent. I appreciate any advice on this one!

I had this problem when we moved to a town with hard water.(we also have a water softener, but still the same problem) Here is the solution. When you run your washer, fill a coffee cup full of vinegar on the top rack in the middle, also fill the prewash about 1/4 full with baking soda instead of dishwashing soap. This is what I do and my dishes are crystal clear. It is kind of a pain, but I swear this really works! Good luck!

I had the same problem, the rinse agent never worked for me.

I put about 1/4 cup of vinegar in after it has filled for the final rinse cycle. Kind of a pain to always "catch" it, but it gets to be a habit and I have done it with the same dishwasher for nearly 10 years! the dishes come out sparkling.

I have the same problem. Was told to make sure water is hot and you have enough water pressure. Gel packs are the worst to use in a dishwasher well that's what frigidaire told me. Some dishwashers are a POS. Mines only 6 months old and it sucks. Ive been washing dishes by hand for a few months now.

Try cleaning your dishwasher. CLR or Lime Away are fine. If you want to experiment, (smile) put in a container of Tang orange drink. Not the container of course, just the powder. It helps scour the tub and spray arms, plus leaves the dishwasher smelling good.

Also check the trap at the bottom, you might have some food and gunk down there.

Try using a little less detergent, or switch to something else. I use just a few drops of a gel-based detergent. I don't know how long you've had your dishwasher, but it might need some maintenance. We've had ours for 14 years - a Kenmore semi-portable unit and it is starting to do the same thing as yours.

You may have hard water, try putting some Lime Away or that stuff I think it is called LCR, anyway, do that with a empty wash. Also, clean every other week with bleach on a empty wash. Thank God for dishwashers!!!!!!

Try changing your detergent to a liquid. You also can use less if you have a water softener....run it once with baking soda then once with nothing then try the new soap. Hope this works for you.

run your dish washer empity with the CLR or lime away in it and clean it out first and then if it's still there after that,
clean your holes out because you might be clogging it with some thing from your dishes.
but this might help with the CLR

use some jet dry, that takes it out. . You are probably using too much soap.
