They are trying to blow someone else's candle out to make theirs burn brighter...they're insecure cowards that like to try and make people feel crap in attempt to make themselves feel bigger and better.

It can be because they have been bullied themselves at one point, and feel the need to hit out at someone else. The bad emotion spreads in this way, of course, it's best to break the chain. At other times it can be jealousy, misunderstanding... or something can start out as a joke, and just get out of hand. It seems that people like to join in with bullying, because they don't want to be bullied themselves... or they just find it fun, or a way to relieve their own stress...
What the victims have to understand is that they can always get help and stop the bullying- it's wrong to blame them if they can't handle it though, and if you see bullying you should try your best to stop it, surely. In the end it's doing neither side any good- sympathy for bullies? Not really, more like pity...

I don't know. I think a lot of it is to do with attention and wantin to feel as though theyre in control of something. Could also be linked to having watched others do it. I think it's important to find out why so that the problem can be tackled, it seems like bullying is getting more and more dramatic. When i was at school people would steal other peoples' bags or throw footballs at them, now people are being knifed and murdered. Perhaps the change is the technology of today? Who knows...

I don"t know why somebody bullies another person, it has been going on for hundreds of years and even our politically correct brigade can"t come up with any reasonable answers. When I was at school there was one notorious bully in our year, he was a real pain in the backside. One day he was bullying a 1st year student [the bully was in the 5th year] It was as usual in front of a large crowd of boys. I went over and told him to stop, and he took a swing at me but missed. I thumped him as hard as I could in the stomach and as he bent forwards I hit him again on the nose. I was unaware at the time, but the Headmaster had witnessed these two blows and we were both taken to his office. After approx. 10 minutes his secretary told us we could go. I never heared another thing about the event. The bully was not at school for 1 week, but when he did return, he showed signs of two black eyes and a still swollen nose. He never bullied any other pupil after that event. Bullies are usually cowards who will only act in or for a crowd. Get them on their own and hurt them, problem solved. I must add that this bully was the same age as me but slightly heavier.

I do see a tendency to blame the victim. I think it's a ghetto thing. The first time I heard blaming the victim was when someone got robbed downtown at midnight, and the hearers of the story, who were from the inner city, started laughing and saying "Well, whut wuz she doin' down ther at midnight ---sheeeee."
A thief is a thief. Don't blame the victim, people.

bully`s are people who like feeling good about hurting other people less able to look after themselves. and those people who blame the victims are really no better than them (the bully`s).

They do it because they are deeply insecure people and it makes them feel like they have some power over somebody ...
sad but true ... Quite often they person being bullied will be somebody that the bully is actually jealous of...

They are basically people who have a very low self-esteem and are generally coward. They try to show (and persuade themselves) that they have kind of power by gathering in groups and bullying others.

Some people do not get the attention they wanted. Thus, they bully other people in order to get attention.
