Does it make your computer faster to update to the newest Internet Explorer?

In all honesty, IE7 is a rip-off of Mozilla Firefox. I've tried IE7 and it's nothing amazing and at this point in time its not compulsory for XP SP2 users so I'd download Mozilla Firefox, you can get it on their website or off www.download.com,

Good Luck!!

I think you need to evaluate your entire system and find out what programs or large usage programs/files are not needed and move them to a external memory stick/thumb drive/hard drive. Currently your system is over capacity and I do not believe it will even do a "DISC CLEAN' or "DISK DE FRAG". So I would take care of moving some of your files off of the main hard drive and then try a disc clean..then defrag.....also go to (internet options) and make sure all of your temp files and history have been cleaned off of your system? Give these items a try in any sequence you like, but removing a security update may be risky business on the internet. I think maybe there is even a new version of IE8 you may want to consider? Good luck. Just go slow..don't panic..it is doable! On the defrag...you can even do that late at night before you go to bed..then if it takes a long time..its no biggy!

To be honest I wouldn't use internet explorer is a complete piece of crap....and it saves everything you do and all your personal infomation if I were you I would use Mozilla Firefox they have a ton of skins for your browser and you can customize everything with it and it has alot more features then Explorer and it blocks a ton of spyware and tracking cookies that just my opinion OHH and also instead of clicking on Internet Explorer Icon to open another page you just have to hit ctrl+T to open a new tab so you can browse faster it's fantastic

Not faster, not necessary and many people don't like it. I would wait until it is neccessary... but for now, you are GOOD.

You should have IE6 with Service Pack 1. Look at ABOUT in the HELP menu and see if this is what you have. You should UPGRADE to that if you don't have it. Just go to http://www.microsoft.com and go to the DOWNLOAD section. Then click INTERNET and look for Internet Explorer 6 with Service Pack 1.

Good luck

well, it is not yet clear.

Last I heard microsoft was going to make it a required update for microsoft xp users.

If you want to go with the firefox option, download it at google.com.

This won't make you computer working faster. My advice: install Opera or Firefox. I prefer Opera - very handy and fast.

If it were me I would wait awhile. This is "Bleeding Edge" software no matter what Microsoft says.

Better safe than sorry!

There are many here who have jumped without looking and now want to go back!

No. If I were you I would just get Firefox and get rid of IE. Firefox is a lot better and faster.

no you don't have to update to IE7 if you don't want to, I don't use IE myself but installed it on my friends computer few days ago, it seemed to work faster but it takes more memory, i wouldn't use it anyway :)
