I've supported Liverpool for about 30 years, but twice a season for each team I want all the other teams in the Premiership (except Man Ure) to win.

This is when the other teams play Man Ure

I even want Everton to beat Man Ure !!!

Madge 51 - You cannot support both them teams, it is an impossibility.

But the way I see it, the premiership is like two different leagues.

Being born in Highbury I’m a gunners fan (thanks Ben J) but I left to study in Norwich just when they the Canneries got promoted (2003). There was a lot of excitement in the city, as you might imagine, and so I got into supporting the locals.

Now Arsenal and Norwich may have occupied the same premiership for that season, but lets face it, they had different agendas. I supported Arsenal in their attempt to top the table and Norwich in their attempt to stay in the table. Apart from the twice they met (which was never gonna be a nail biting match), their fortunes had nothing to do with each other.

The difference between the top of the crop and the relegation zone is immense. You’ve got Chelsea owned by a multi billionaire oil baron, and at the other end (for one season at least) Norwich owned by the local Chef!

I saw no conflict in supporting both.

I have supported my team for 20 years. They havent won anything in that time but I feel duty bound and will never support another. You can tell a lot about someones personality just by asking which team they support, If they tell you they support a low league team that theyhave always loved you can tell they are loyal, passionate people that dont jump on bandwagons. If they tell you they support Man Utd, Chelsea or arsenal then theyare most likely losers in life that need to attach themselves to a successful team to make themselves feel better.
By the way I support Notts forest.

I do agree with you, nobody should should support 2 teams from the same division, but im do support 2 teams myself. Im a die hard Wrexham fan (someone has got to be!!!), and i also follow spurs. its a sort of must do thing supporting your local club, but its nice to follow a Premier league team too, its a different class and type of football. If Wrexham and Spurs were ever to play each other i would always be sitting on the Wrexham side!!

I support Everton and have done for 25 years. If i watch Man u - Watford i'll want watford to win because i hate Man u. It's not that i support a different team just that i'd rather some teams beat other taems. If that makes sense

Sometimes you want to support a team you wouldn't normally care about if they are playing a team you don't like.

For example if I supported Everton then I wouldn't normally support Manchester United or care how they did. But if they were playing Liverpool who I would probably hate then I would be supporting them in that match.

I just think its strange how people can claim to be supporters of 2 rival teams. But I guess its alright to support one team and admire another. Just another way of putting it.

it can't happen. Either your a supporter or not. I can look out for results of other teams and be happy if they win but i would not classify that as being a supporter.

Not so. As a Blades fan commited (in more ways than one) to a marriage with a Chelsea fanatic, I can honestly say that my half hearted celebratory hugs when Chelsea wins are warranted. Furthermore, I have two kids so this strategy works.

Well I do not care what anyone else thinks, I have been supporting Manchester United and Liverpool for most of my life, and each time they play each other, I tend to support Manchester United always have always will.
