yes, but its very possible. my mother had me @ 40, without trying. my advice to you is to see a dr. b4 even trying to conceive so that you can begin taking prenatal vitamins and check to make sure you are good to go. Also go to your dentist b4 you conceive so that you can take care of any teeth problems b4 hand. good luck and God bless.

It's not conception that you should worry about, it's the aftermath of it. A woman at your age has more than a 1:378 chance of having a baby with down syndrome - and a 1:192 chance of having a baby with ANY other chromosomal defect!!
With the help of modern medical science, many of these handicapped children live well into their 30's - 50's. Who will take care of that child then, when you cannot?
Heart attack is still the #1 killer, especially in women. Granted, everyone hopes that they live until they're 100 - but most people do go into nursing homes in their 70's, and Alzheimer's disease is continuing to spread.
You not only need to think about where you will be in 30-40 years, with a handicapped offspring - but what will happen to that child of yours when you cannot take care of him/her. More often than not - these handicapped children & adults are sent to homes, because other family members cannot and will not take the burden of raising a person with such needs.
I'm sure you'll get a lot of responses from old women who will say 'well i'm that old and i had a kid who was just fine' - but...they are still the few & the lucky.

You are past your peak fertility, but that doesn't necessarily mean you'll have any problem getting pregnant. To maximize your chances, I strongly recommend reading "Taking Charge of Your Fertility" by Toni Weschler for solid information on determining when in your cycle you're fertile and when you're not.
Good luck! I'm 36 and planning to start trying to conceive after the start of the year. Hopefully I have genetics on my side (my mom had no problem getting pregnant at 40 and her mom had an otherwise routine pregnancy at 44.)

Get a check up and make sure everything is working properly, then just relax. You might want to have the hubby do the same.
If all else fails, buy an expensive two-seat sports car with absolutely no room for a car seat. :)
Good Luck to you!
