They're not a style of music that can easily blend into the background. I don't especially like Elton John but if a song of his comes on the radio, it gets lost in the background. Can't say the same about Rush!
Their styles also change with the decade. I've introduced people to their early 70's style and they think they're great. I play a later tune for them and they lose interest.
Unless you have a true appreciation for music and/or are a studied musician, then it seems that Rush falls under the "hate it" category. Their lyrics require thought, their music requires talent and their eclectic style requires open-mindedness. That should tell you something about the Rush haters...

Getty Lee has a very different voice that some people may not like. They are some of the best musicians in the world by far, those that appreciate their talents probably enjoy the music more. Unfortunately popularity/looks plays a big part in today's music and therefore, unfortunately, none of the guys would win a beauty contest.

I've always thought their music was unique and thought provoking. But, don't think they were the best "eye candy" in their prime. (which to some is important!?) Actually they remind me of the band Train. Big love/hate thing with Train too.
Now I'm laughing as the thought just crossed my mind that this question could mean Rush Limbaugh!...obviously not a "them" tho'

they got a real style to there music. they are not a cookie cut out band and the 3 players are real musisians not posers
