If I have minus 2 apples in my hand (which means I have no apples) and I MULTIPLY those non-apples by, say, minus 2 apples (again, no apples) HOW do I end up with 4 apples in my hand?

you don't it's minus four aplles, the only way you can have a positive nutmber is to add a positive number greater than that of the negative first number. i.e -2 apples plus six apples = 4 apples.

Hi sea moth (again)
sorry you cannot multiply something by -2 apples
it is nonsense
if you have 20 apples and give 2 to 5 friends
you have lost 2 x 5 = 10 which is
20 -10 apples
when all the apples are gone you cannot give any more away and so you cannot have
(- ) apples
You are trying to apply a flawed logic to understand mathematical rules.
Join us - accept minus x minus = plus
Good luck

it is meaningless to multiply objects, say you had +2 apples in your hand and you multiplied them by +2 apples, the result would be 4 apples^2, or 4 , apples each 6 dimensional.

Basically in your hand you are actually holding a piece of paper that says "I owe 2 apples". By multiplication other people owe you apples too and this not only cancels your debt but leaves you with enough vouchers for 4 sweet apples! Enjoy them my friend!

ur apples are magical.
nah ok ill cut the crap lol,

um thats a good question! hmm i wanna know too!
you're basically saying 'i got nothing in one hand and i multiply by nothing, then how do i end up with something!'

what the hayellll this is confusing!

it's impossible

the rules of maths say that (-) times(-) is equal to (+)

but,call each apple x say

(-2x)*(-2x)=4x^2,but you can't get squared apples,
therefore, the statement is an absurdity

a typical example of some maths thinking
being out of touch with the real world

i hope that this helps

It depends on how hungry you were when you first picked up the apples.

You never had minus two, you had none. You multiply it by minus two and you still have none.

-APPLES MEANS U OWE 2 APPLES, NOT U HAVE, THEREFORE: U X 2 = -4
IF U X BY -2 AGAIN THEN - & - WOULD BE CANCELLED.. U END WITH +4,

BUT IT DOESNT WORK LIKE THT!!
