Mathematics is the art of abstracting modeling solving and applying. Arithmetic, multiplication & algebra are only tools.

most definitely. alot of university level mathematics is a big jump from high school algebra and alot of it is about understanding complicated concepts and problems. still, you won't get very far on a practical basis if you can't use the simple tools. even though its boring, learning the prelimiaries will make it a hell of alot easier to learn the complicated stuff.

My father could always do my algebra homework by just looking at the prollems...He was right about 90% of the time without putting pen to paper...I couldn't do algebra with the teacher helping me. So i'd have to say Yes to you question.
