Can you imagine my surprise when I decided to follow the 80's over hyped gay phenomenon Frankie Goes To Hollywood's advice and I relaxed, didn't do it and ended up upsetting my boss and getting fired?

Obviously there are certain circumstances when it pays to ignore pop stars advice.

I have no knowledge of Frankie Goes to Hollywood, so I am analyzing the "relax, don't do it when you want to go do it" line in isolation. Of course, your comments get me speculating on what the "it" is in this case. But if I am understanding this, and there was something you did NOT do here that upset your boss and got you fired, then I wonder if you don't have a lawsuit you can file.

Which leads me to conclude I haven't a clue what "Frankie Goes to Hollywood" was about, do I? Could you add a detail, once you stop laughing at the ignorant old lady? LOL

I know how you feel. I was listening to some early Pink Floyd which resulted in me going to work in a 'long gown that touches the ground'. I was sacked on the spot as my boss thought I was a muslim.

you took his advice out of context
he specifically said "when you want to come"

if your boss was asking you to come, when you took frankies advice, then you have something to complain about

Well, der! I don't think a pop song has ever really given very good advice - except perhaps to 'wear sunscreen'!!!
