1) REINSTALL iTUNES. Launch the application and sign in to your itunes music store account. Don't plug in your ipod yet.

2) INSTALL & LAUNCH a free trial of Podutil from Kennettnet Software (www.kennettnet.co.uk). The application will sit on your computer idling, displaying a waiting-for-ipods message.

3) PLUG IN YOUR iPOD. Podutil will detect it and display a window that shows the files and playlists on your ipod. Click the CHOOSE button at the bottom of the Podutil, and select your itunes music folder. Next click the COPY SETTINGS button in the dialog box that appears. Select both ADD TRACKS to iTUNES and REBUILD PLAYLISTS. Click OK.

4) Read the DON'T STEAL MUSIC WARNING, then click the COPY button below it.

5) WATCH AS PODUTIL COPIES your songs, videos, playlists and podcasts back to your computer and then load them into iTunes. Reauthorize your iTunes music store tracks. You are done!

actually, you really can't move songs from the ipod to the library, you can move from the library to the ipod, but not vice versa, trust me i've tried. really the only way to get your music on your computer is by uploading the cd's again-it's apple's handy little way of making sure you don't take music from other people's itunes, put it on your ipod, take it home, and put it in your own library-as if we are incapable of burning cd's...hope this helped

my Sandisk has an option each connection to my PC to "synchronize" all files before any other action....yours should too somehow.
Especially if you use I-Tunes, it should be auto. If thats the case, something is not right.
