How interesting that you ask this. I've toyed with the options: Hey, Hi, variety of accents on hello and can't find one better. I do like in person to say, hola. Only those I went to Mexico with understand the fun of this greeting though. I'll read your answers to see if I can borrow a new greeting. Later.

I have wondered this for a long time my friend and the conclusion I got to was that Hello is the best way. We all know people from different nationalities and Hello is international everyone understands it.
Again, so many people phone the wrong number and if you answer by adding your name before the Hello then who ever phoned will know they either phoned the right person or someone with a complete different name.
Good luck

You could say, "Greetings!"
I've called others and heard, "Praise the Lord!"
Have you tried, "Top of the morning to ya!"?
Some of my younger relatives say, "What's up!"
Southerners might say, "Howwwdeeeee!"
"____________ residence." If you didn't want to give your name, you could be creative and say, "Dime Residence."
Or try this, "You have reached 555-1213, how can I help you?"
