Please spare me the "republicans are pedophiles" and the "war monger Bush lied" mantras.

If Democrats do take over, these veterans will most likely be back to shake things up by chairing powerful committees. Their ability to push through major legislation will be limited because their majority will probably be slim, and President Bush could wield the veto pen. But many Democrats intend to push an aggressive oversight agenda that would investigate the Bush administration's conduct on everything from the war in Iraq to Hurricane Katrina and homeland security. There would be no shortage of fireworks on Capitol Hill. They say they will launch their consensus-based, six-part "New Direction for America" or "Six for '06" plan within days if they take control of the House in early January. The highlights include legislation initiatives that would increase the minimum wage, negotiate lower prices for Medicare prescription drugs, implement all the 9/11 commission recommendations, end tax breaks for oil companies, and increase federal funding for human embryonic stem cell research.
These are a few things, though Bush will be pretty active with his veto pen.

To vote Democratic in the mid term elections will not shift the power to the Democrats in the government. It will, however, send a message to the Republican leadership that the country wants change and is unhappy with the direction they are taking.
Additionally, if the Democrats don't retake some power in this election, it could potentially set up a clean sweep for the Democrats in 2008.
If the next two years go poorly in Iraq and the Republicans have maintained complete control of the government, the elections in 2008 could be a Democratic landslide. If the Democrats take back some power now, a failure in Iraq would be a share responsibility.

Let me say right upfront that I am a Republican. I have never seen an administration so determined to make themselves and all of their friends rich. Forget the pedophile crap, as there are sick and crazy people everywhere, but forget the war? Clearly this war was intended for one purpose, so Dick and all of the other Washington insiders could make a fortune for their companies. Why else would they assign Dick's company contract after contract at outrageous rates when there were lower bids offered and available? This is not a grand conspiracy theory of a second gunman in the grassy knoll, this is fact. Who else stood to make a profit off of the decision to go to war? The people in power. Why else would they spend $200 million to get this guy elected for a $400,000 a year job? I suggest that that a legitimate reason to vote Democratic next month is to teach the Republicans that they have to be responsible for their actions. I am trying to teach my children this, too bad Barbara didn't do a better job when she had a chance.

Legitimate reason to vote Democrat ? OK Fuel prices oil company's got a tax break while making a profit ?!?! stem Cell research can improve millions of peoples quality of life . ( They don't kill baby's to get them . ) ( why don't Republicans Educate themselves on the facts ?. ) Insurance costs are staggering . The Economy is a disaster . Interest rates . Gay marriages , This is an issue with the churches not a political one . The priest can simply refuse to marry on grounds of his belief . I do think the churches need to clean up their gay priests and pedophiles . The War is a failure we need to pull out . Republicans just cant admit that we cant fix stupid . We have a runaway deficit . This war does need to be paid for . How can this be done without a tax increase . So a republican vote is a vote for a tax increase for American workers .

The House of Representatives and the Senate are currently Republican-led. Where the hell has that gotten us? Vote different, if not Democrat.

This will be a work of fiction for me, as "legitimate" and "democrat" are hard to reconcile with each other.
I guess if one wants Marxist like control over their finances and their children's education, they should vote lib.
If one wishes to have the Second Amendment suspended they should vote lib.
The decriminalization of NAMBLA should appeal to those with a desire to vote lib.
The neutering of our Armed Force's budget in favor of Hillary's social engineering programs would be a certainty if you vote lib.
I could continue but I just realized something; this is litany is NOT FICTION---It is the REALITY of a lib government.

Not all Democrats are as bad as republicans say they are. The last good Republican was the Late Senator Barry Goldwater.

No reasons for me.

And if I could speak directly to Catholics (like me), you have a moral responsibility to participate in the electoral process and to vote consistent with the values of our Catholic faith. A Catholic cannot vote for a candidate who is for abortion, gay marriage, the morning after pill, and embryonic stem cell research. The war in Iraq is important, but holds a lesser moral standing than the murder of over 4000 innocent babies each day. We could be one of the most powerful voting blocks in the country, yet we water down our strength (and degrade our faith) when "Kerry Catholics" embrace a Democratic platform that is almost entirely inconsistent with our faith. The Democratic Party of 40 years ago is gone. Time to change your registration card.
