this shouldn't even be a question lol lord of the rings everytime. it is a literary masterpiece whereas the potter books are a commercial success, a bit like discworld for kids.
Tolkien was an expert in mythology and folklore, and also strange languages
but all respect to whatsername, she just writes about a tired, used up genre in a fresh way

It's so stupid of you (dont mind) to even raise this question. Definitely it's Lord of the rings any given day. I'm not demeaning Harry Potter by saying this but Harry Potter can only excite the minds of young children. What Tolkien has done in this novel is that he's seem to have done a lot of research in it, have ingeniously created a whole lot of characters that one can't even imagine about.
What I've to say is Harry Potter is for children, and Lord of the rings is for the mature lot.

it doesn't really matter witch book/movie is better, it's all about enjoying it!
if u don't like the specific book, then fine!no ones trying to push you saying 'oh Lord of the Rings is SOOOO much better than Harry Potter, U MUST READ IT!' or ' Harry Potter rocks! your so dumb if you don't like it.'

The Harry Potter books are much more enjoyable to read, but I think the LOTR movies were better crafted.

Of course LOTR rocks. If you have read the book then you'll know why. Coz the detailed description of the Middle-earth is given with maps and also the writings used duirng that time Wereas is Hp ul just see kids using broomsticks to fly and pulling each others legs. OF course i do say one thing tha HP is meant for kids but the question you asked is Which book/movie is better and i would defenitley say it LOTR. Ita a classic masterpiece.
