Laptop is better than desktop because it's more handy and you can carry it anywhere you go. Desktop is more bulky and sensitive .

Depends on the users needs. If you want the best systems going then desktops, because they literally have the space to put more things in them. However, and it is commonly overlooked by many, todays laptops are powerful enough to fulfill 90% of a users needs, plus they are portable so you can take them anywhere you go.
As it goes I have 3 desktop PCs for number crunching, but do all my 'office' work on a Mac laptop. If in doubt get both :OD

For functionality, definatley a desktop, it not only has a bigger hard drive adn can run several programs at once without a problem, and the CD writter on a laptop last at least half as long as that of a desktop. But a laptop has the mobililty to it's name. It depends on your lifestyle, a laptop would suit a student but a desktop would suit the normal run-of-the-mill middle class worker..

I think a desktop: it can have more memory, better graphics, a better processor, handle many more programs at once, is generally faster and I think they break down less aswell.

Laptops are useful if you work on the move, but I think most people could get by just using a desktop. Plus desktops can have their parts removed and upgraded, with laptops you just have to buy a whole new one and they are more expensive than desktop PC's.

Perhaps your question could be rephrased or viewed from another perspective; application of use, do you need the
portability of a laptop, is your need mobile or constant throughout
the day? If not, would the stability of a desk top work for you, such as, the desk or table platform for writting or storage, a
comfortable seating arrangement or perhaps the area with which
you could surround yourself with peripheral equipment that is
stationary?

I tend to find my PC is more versatile, but with my laptop being portable, I'd have to go with that. Especially since VISTA is round the corner - most comps (PC or Laptop) are sharing the same specifications these days anyway, so its really up to you..

depending on the make, most PC's are cheaper.....
