By "report directly" I mean they have no other boss or supervisor other than the President himself. I would think their can't be that many people that would apply to.

Generally the President of the United States is just a figurehead of our government in which his appointed cabinet members are the actual people that make his office operate.Mr, Bush on the other hand has taken a more hands-on approach since being elected thus taking the position assingned to him with more responsibilities put upon himself to be able to direct his political viewpoints towards achieving goals from the challenges facing this country. So in my opinion there are about 160 cabinet members(roughly) so I would guess 160 but don't forget the allmighty wife for as a married man I allways have to answer to the lady of the house. P.S. I'm not sure about actual amount of cabinet members; this was how many went to prison from Reagans' cabinet.

God only knows! Check the protocols, you may get the exact number of those who "legally" should report to him. How about the secret advisers, the sweethearts, the whistle blowers, the good time boys, the "sip" guys and gals... the list can go endlessly.

Today, none. The President is a bobblehead puppet and his strings are pulled by extremist right wing war profitters and special interests.
