Golf Gt TDI 115bhp limited edition. turbo cutting out on motorway. not the ECU or mass metre sensors any ideas

Question

cuts out sometimes after an hour sometimes after 20mins. changed many sensors. now the check coolant stop sign comnig up have much coolant in it, also wont lock and driving me nuts! mechanic says its not turbo but other people say it is! im at a loss dont want to spend £1200 on new turbo and fitting and to find out it was a bloody sensor! arghhhh !!! help any ideas?

It sounds like the cheapest option long run would be to let a VW dealer or non franchised independent to hook you;re car up to there computer.
it could save you money in the long run, before taken it in though its worth checking all the electrical connections and air pipes(especially the EGR valve) first.

sounds like an exhaust problem. Those cars can only run well if they can put out the exhaust with no obstructions,
I once Had a second-hand Rover and tried all things since it would back fire and loose power on acceleration. I put in a fuel cartridge to boost the fuel. improved, but then took it to a good exhaust dealer and found out someone had put the wrong exhaust on it. went like a new car, so check your manifold and exhaust there may be a blockage of build up. or may be you too have the wrong bore exhaust

I had a similar problem with a turbo unit, it turned out to be the air inlet for the unit had become blocked and collapsed when i got to about 65 Mph.

Have you got the correct fuel cap fitted? May sound odd but friend had similar problem (not Golf) and when I checked it for her, she had lost the original filler cap and fitted one without breather hole. After continuous driving vacuum doesn't let fuel through. The clue was the sucking noise when I removed cap.

fuel filter maybe? or even the pump could be faulty. I had that once , cost me a fortune then i changed the pump and it was sorted.
