After understanding the limitations of the natural way of being as a human, the attempt to have some control over the natural sense organs, and then going beyond the level of perception through these sense organs, consciously, is spirituality.

Spirituality, in a narrow sense, concerns itself with matters of the spirit. The spiritual, involving as it may, perceived eternal verities regarding Man's ultimate nature, often contrasts with the temporal or with the worldly. A sense of connection forms the central defining characteristic of spirituality — connection to something greater than oneself, which includes an emotional experience of religious awe and reverence. Equally important, spirituality influences matters of sanity and psychological health. Like some forms of religion, spirituality often focuses on personal experience.
Spirituality may involve perceiving life as higher, more complex or more integrated with one's worldview, as contrasted with the merely sensual.

Being spiritual is to fight against what you believe to be the sins of this world. For me spirituality is awakening people to themselves, for people to look at the colorful world instead of just the shadows the majority says the world is.
Also being spiritual comes through faith, faith in your fight against sin. You have to eat, sleep, and breath your fight. You have to place unconditional trust in your faith. Your faith is your religion. Still if your faith is not unconditional, passionate, you are not of that religion; without passion for your quest religion doesn't exist. Thus, religious isn't something you can just pretend to be, either you are or you aren't.
Therefore, spirituality is living life by your own philosophy, your own religion, your passion.

SPIRITUALITY to me is anything dealing with my spirit.
My spirit is the soul that He/She gave me upon birth. And enclosed in this physical form, it waits to be heard. It has an agenda for this life and wants to experience it fully. It has patience and will wait for me..
It took me along time in this life to connect with my spirit and form a bond (that is still not permanent because I tend to listen to the world's influence instead of my spirit). And the spirit does not want just bliss and happiness. Mine wants to feel the darkness, so that the brightness can be oh so bright in contrast.
You have to be strong with your spirit and not act out on the emotions that your spirit envokes in you. One moment you are in the bliss of happiness and swept into a current of love, and the next moment you are in throes of hate, and the next moment is despair. Feel each of these as the moments arrive, but if actions are taken then you will have manifested the spirit materialistically and cause and effect will then begin. Only the physical form, your body, is concerned with cause and effect, the spirit is not concerned.

To me spirituality is about looking within for truth instead of looking for answers outside of myself. Knowing that I am Spirit and connected to Spirit where all truth resides. It's about looking for the meaning of life within myself, to find a deeper meaning than those that were given to me by others.

There's a load of articles about spirituality at http://publishing.hammocksurvivalguide.com/
As far as I am concerned. I remain pretty open minded about it all.
