No one sang the national anthem at game 1 of the world series. Bob Seger, (a Waterford, Michigan native) sang "America"

Carrie Underwood sang the National anthem at the All*Star game. Maybe that is what your friend was thinking. And, like other people have said, Bob Seger sang "America the Beautiful" which, in my opinion should BE our National anthem not that hard-to-sing "Star Spangled Banner".. wonder who St. Louis will have.

It was not sang at Game 1. Apparently, Bob Seger was supposed to sing it, but said that it is too hard to sing. He opted to sing America. I'm sorry, but if you can't sing what is called for at an American pastime like baseball that has had the Star Spangled Banner played at the beginning for ever, then let someone who can!
