The most important issue facing the American people, in the upcoming election, is the fact that a majority of the incumbents in both Houses of the US Congress sent the Military Commissions Act to the President, and that the President signed it.
This legislation is clearly unConstitutional. Senator Arlen Specter is quoted as having said, "We knew it was unConstitutional, but we voted for it, anyway."
The Military Commissions Act purports to strip certain aliens of the privilige of the Writ of Habeas Corpus. The Constitution declares that this privilege may not be suspended, unless the USA is in the middle of a rebellion or an invasion. We are not in the middle of a rebellion or an invasion. The Supreme Court has ruled repeatedly that the terms of the Constitution apply to aliens as well as to American citizens. Therefore, the Military Commissions Act is unConstitutional, an attack on the US Constitution.
The fact that a majority of the incumbents in both Houses of the Congress would send to the President an attack on the Constitution shows that they are Enemies of the US Constitution. If they are Enemies of the US Constitution, the liberties enjoyed by Americans are at risk.
By voting for any incumbent, of whatever party, who voted for the Military Commissions Act, Americans will be saying, "I don't care."

I belive that in this mid-term election as in all others, the local issues are more important to the voters; they will also look at the voting record of their representatives/senators and decide if these voted as they would have liked them to do.
