Im am in Midlands in Uk and have 6 yrs no claims. I ride a GSXR1000. Full comp insurance is still £540. When I passed my test at 21, I bought a new Fazer 600 and TPFT was over £800!! Only experience, time and being careful will reduce your premiums. Also consider very carefully what security you will have on the bike, when your birthday is, and consider haveing a multibike policy as these can help aswell.

Hard to say without knowing specific details.
I'll explain what brings the price of insurance down from my experience.
The biggest factor is age and experience, and unfortunately, both are against you here. However, if you have been driving, and have 2 or 3 years no claims, this will help greatly.
The area you live in will also help, providing there is a low vehicle theft rate there.
If you have a garage, this will drop your premium in a big way, failing that, if you can store the bike off road, for example on a driveway, or behind the house, or next best thing to a garage, in a metal shed, with an insurance approved padlock, then any/all of these will lower it.
So assuming you are taking the Direct Access test, and have no experience riding. I can only estimate, as i did my CBT at 21, and started on a 400 at 22. I paid a little under £300, but had a years no claims on motorcycles behind me, but did not hold a Full Driving licence.
If you have a driving licence, and even a years no claims bonus, you could be looking at £300 minumum on a 500cc, and anything upwards of £2000 if you want to get a 900cc Ninja, GSX-R, Fireblade etc.
If you want to get the most accurate indication, select a bike that you would like, and contact Carole Nash (check source for link) and get an online quote, or call them (if you want to check multiple bikes, i'd call them, also they can tell you what else will make your premium cheaper, all you need to do is ask them) when you do this, work on the assumption you already have a licence, but have just passed your test.
I would reccomend as a first bike, you stick to a 400 sports, or a 500 sports/tourer, atleast until you have gained enough experience and confidence riding, they go plenty fast, yet will be far more forgiving then more powerful bikes. Try a Honda CBR400RR, the baby blade, or the Kawasaki ZX-R 400 ninja, both are very fast, and handle great, ideal begginer sports bikes, or maybe the Kawasaki ER-5 if sports bikes aren't your thing, i did my training and test on one of these, they are comfortable, reliable (if a training centre uses them, you know they last) and when you crank the throttle back, they can accelerate plenty fast.
Good luck whatever you decide, and with your test (if you haven't done it yet) and happy and safe riding =)

Insurance is dependant on a great many things such as postcode, age, no claims bonus, experience, security, make/model etc. Because of this is is very difficult to gauge what you are likley to pay based on other peoples premiums.
Your best bet is to ring a few companies and get a quotes for a couple of bikes you are considering.

RE :What is the average (Full) Motorbike ins. for a 21yr old on a 500-600cc?
I live in a private development, in a good area, with a private space, gated entry, clean car licence and am considering buying a motorbike.
Could someone just give me an average rate with a few examples of similar situations maybe with bikes ranging from 500-1200cc so that I get an idea of what I will be expected to pay. Thanks in advance.

Depends where you are in the world. I assume your in USA. If your out in the sticks its going to be cheaper, if your near a major city, more expensive. Anywhere from $1,800.00yr to $500.00 a MONTH.
In Florida, if you own it you dont need insurance (but if finance company owns it you need full coverage in case of loss)
Shop around
