I liked the first episode ... but thought the second was just for shock value and over the top a bit.

Whats with all the stupid "over the top" Welsh accents?
Its patronising. I'm a Cardiffian and hardly anyone has a mega-strong bouncy Welsh accent in Cardiff and says "nor" instead of "no" I certainly dont. Thats more West Walians/Valleys people who talk like that.. That lot sounded like rejects from Pobol y Cwm.
Neither do we ALL have Welsh names like Gwen, Rhys, Bethan, Carys, Ianto Jones etc. Most Cardiffians I know are just called things like Sue and Dave!
And it didn't show anything of how cosmopolitan Cardiff is. That stupid fat Valleys boy in the Pizza Parlour made me laugh - in the REAL Cardiff he'd have been a Somali.
It seemed to me that it was made by someone who isn't Welsh and has this really cliched idea of how Cardiff is. All miners and singsong down the pit and stuff.
Its like setting a series in Glasgow and having everyone wearing kilts and called "Angus" and "Hamish" and stuff. And eating haggis while playing the bagpipes.
Apart from that it was good. And cool to see all the familiar sights of the city
Although I jumped out of my seat when I saw my ex hubby on screen as an extra! EEEEK!
They filmed an episode in the pub where my BF works too.

physician who's my all-time well-known television sequence so I could say it is maximum suitable, yet i does no longer omit it quite is spin-off Torchwood the two. it is worth remembering that Torchwood would possibly on no account have been concept-approximately in the 1st place if it wasn't for it quite is confirm sequence. i think of the main modern-day 4 sequence of physician who've been greater consistent in high quality than Torchwood to date. the 1st sequence of Torchwood became extremely a "curates egg". some episodes have been quite spectacular, some have been no greater desirable than commonplace and others have been very undesirable. the 2d sequence, luckily, became notably greater suitable standard and made it obtrusive that Torchwood is turning out to be a large sequence in it quite is very own perfect. The 4 new physician Who sequence have seldom been decrease than sturdy and, for the time of the 2d 0.5 of the final sequence particularly, have risk-free a number of the main suitable drama seen on television these days, with episodes like "Human Nature / relatives of Blood", the distinctive award triumphing "Blink" and the epic 3 area finale of the final sequence. we at the instant are 0.5 way nevertheless the thirtieth sequence and the forty fifth year of physician Who. it quite is a television legend and a British cultural icon. Torchwood has a protracted thank you to flow formerly it reaches that prestige.

Well I absolutely LOVED it! I am a very big Doctor Who fan, and for any other Whovians out there, can I just say that I got very excited about that pickled hand. It's the Doctors hand that the Sycorax cut off on Christmas day! Of course, it is on Wikipedia, but at the time I didn't know that and I got very excited. So, for all who worship the Who, WOO WOO!!
Of course, they did the sex episode early on, so that parents who have children who are DW fans know whether or not they want thier child watching it. The rest of the episodes will probably not have as much graphic sex like they did in the second episode, but they will probably mention sex or something. It is still for older viewers, after all.

I will definitely watch it, but it was a bit Barbarella in places. Pushing the sci-fi thing into strange orgasm stealing territories! which is so removed from Dr Who, it seems even more perverted. Also its a bit of a shame that they have made it so adult, my little brother loves Dr Who and Captain Jack was one of his favourite characters, but there is no way we can let him watch Torchwood.
I don't think it will stand the test of time, unless they make it less tacky.
But like I said I still enjoyed it enough to want to know whats gonna happen next.

I thought it was fantastic and though it lacked in parts I can tell its going to get better. The first season of Doctor Who took time to get on its feet so i doubt this will be any different.
The only thing I wasn't too keen on was Gwen though more so in the first episode, im hoping he character will grow on me much like Rose did.
John on the other hand - so glad to see him back and can't wait for him and the Doctor to get back together!

Absolutely excellent! I liked Capt. Jack in Doctor Who and Eve Myles who plays Gwen looks fit and looks likely to replace Rose in my affections!
There's enough references to Doctor Who to keep me hooked and i thought the opening episodes were first-class. Well worth the hype and the wait!

I thought it was a shame they felt they had to use sex to sell it, in episode 2. My husband doesn't agree with me, of course! It has the potential to be great, I'm a Dr Who fan as well.

Excellent! It was so far from Dr Who. I thought it would be a rip off but it wasn't at all. It's about time there was something good on tv!
