It is well documented that women, having comitted the same crime, are far less likely to go to prison than men. Also, if they do go to prison it is for a shorter period. Why is this? How can it be justified?

There are no two crimes that are the same. People don't go to prison for committing the "same" crime. Sentences for violent crimes also include the consideration for how much of a threat to society the convicted person is capable of being. Someone who guts his victims for sport after he rapes them is a far greater threat to society than the twenty-four year woman who blows her uncle's head off for fondling her four year old daughter. It is well ''documented" that men are much more violent and much more likely to murder a second time than a woman is. You sound like your polarizing "Divide and Compare Mankind So That You Can Feel Superior Or Less Afraid" hate issue is woman vs. men, or, how to blame mommy for everything. Isn't that at ALL embarrassing?

You are correct, women are treated differently. No one knows the exact reason but it has to do with they way they are perceived. They are the "pretty ones" and more helpless than men. They have always been the ones that we men protected. Thus it is difficult to punish them. That is unless they were in Salem Mass. a couple hundred years ago.

We're under a system of Feminist Jurisprudence thanks to the liberals and women can now get away with just about anything, including murdering their children one by one in a bath tub.

Whereas men are presumed guilty until proven innocent, women are presumed to not have the criminal gene.

didn't you know, women are oppressed by men. Who are we to expect them to pay for their crimes? Besides, maybe she just felt like doing it. That's her prerogative.
