I'm talking about people with no common sense, for eg: people who walk all the way down a very long corridor just to tell you there is no paper in a copier that is not in your department anyway - amongst plenty of other things too long to list. Grr!

Tell them to try going to the most senior manager to tell them about this major disaster (copier out of paper, kettle broken etc).
They'll soon stop after a couple of bol**ckings.

I would tell them that there is probably more paper near the copier and they can got get that. Then I would that them for walking all the way down the hall way just to keep me up to date on everything that's going on, but details like this are really not necessary.
Or you could stare at them, say okay and stare some more. If they don't leave you ask if they need any help.
I wouldn't stress over people like this, they're not hurting you by waling down the hall way. believe me, they come much worse then that.

Make them do other stupid things just to see how far the stupid-ness stretches, like send them a very long way to get paper for the copier, just to discover there is no paper there and have to come back and tell you that there was no paper there, and you then say, sorry i was thinking about something completely different and then again send them off.......and do the same sort of things with other stupid things that they do, they will soon get the message. haha

lack of common sense does not mean you are an idiot sometime it plain laziness and some wants to have a power trip toward other that they act like they don't know and tell people to do what they think is beyond them, i usually will tell them to come with me and i show them how things is supposed to be done and tell them next time you don't call me anymore because you can change it yourself, not in a confrontational, annoying way but in a teacherly manner! Common Sense is the most uncommon sense of all, remember all the time not everybody have it!

Depends who it is who's walking the whole length of a corridor just to come and give me that useless information, if he was a nice guy I might think he was interested in me, if its someone who's trying to just be your friend I would be nice to them, if its the office groveller then I too would be a bit peeved, if it was the office junior I would be sympathetic, if it was someone who just did that to wind others up then I would tick him off or sack him.

I recently saw, in a firebox magazine, a rather useful device. You plug it in to your computer, and every time you press the spacebar it fires foam balls at people whilst playing circus music.
Buy a USB cannon!

I tell them which train they want as all idiots at my work are rail passengers and they take out their brain as soon as they enter the station.
