does anybody know if the new 4gb i pod nano's that have come out can store pictures or is it just the 8gb ones???

yes, it can. all the current iPods (with the exception of the shuffle) can store pictures

All the currently iPod versions can store pictures and play a nice slideshow. However, even the newly formatted iPod Nano cannot play videos. That ability is left for the new 30GB and 60GB iPods.

My 2GB Nano can store pictures so I'm sure the 4GB ones can too.

They can store pictures - I've just bought one and it's brilliant!! but do get a case as well to protect it.
