The text below the icons in the desktop is filled with the color blue. I want to make it transparent. I mean i want only the text to be seen not the color which is surrounding it.

Nobody understood my problem. that drop shadow thing is already on. my problem is that the text below the icon is surrounded by the color blue.
I know how to change it, by going to Display properties , then to the desktop tab and in the desktop tab on the right side its written color and i can change it from there. But i dont want to change the color i want to make it transparent. I want only the text to be seen.

So you don't want to have the background colour showing through, but you also don't want to see the drop shadow on the text? You just want the text on a transparent background with no drop shadow?

The answer is - it isn't possible I'm afraid. It's background colour or drop shadow. Those are the only two options in Windows. You might find that the utilities mentioned in the article below are of some help. I don't know about them in depth, but they might have options to change what you're after somehow. The two it talks about are:

MicroAngelo
WindowFX

I hope that helps answer your question. Sorry.

Seach for customizing desktop wallpaper in general search engines and that will give you a lot of information too.

You can also find many freeware custom desktop themes, wallpapers, etc, on the net using this search term--->freeware desktop wallpaper downloads

The color is the background color. You can set this for any color you want.
If your desktop is like mine, the color of the text below the icons is white. If the background was also white, the text wouldn't show up at all.
