I don`t think he actually lied,it was just his way of fooling the audience...Didn`t realize the time frame until the girl happened onto the road and the security truck appeared.

Love ya!

I believe that the grave stone was dated that way to keep the younger villagers to ignore the actual time frame, and to fool us.

I realized the real time frame when they started to pull out pictures and old newspapers from the boxes, although I was suspicious without knowing exactly why since way before that.

The movie was very good. The way he builds up terror in the audience by creating such a strange atmosphere with the guards in the towers, the torch lights and everything else is fantastic.

He didn't lie, those damn village people lied. I enjoyed this movie & thought it was smart. A lot of people hated this movie because of the hype. The Sixth Sense was excellent, Signs was good, and then came The Village. Where else could he go, but down from the Sixth Sense because it was so good. (Well, to the everyday viewer) I think he is very clever in his writing of movies and leaves it to the imagination. I was completely shocked when I found out the time frame and thought it was a good twist. The only thing I wish was the creatures had a more scarier costume as well as being real.

Probably because they used old books and stuff with older dates. When the kids would study they might see the copyright date on the book and be suspicious. Also it was a time they all probably agreed on. That time in American History we had pioneers going out west and superstitions ran rampant. It was just another form of control.

I liked this movie. I guessed the time frame only a little bit into the movie but I was only joking but I was right about it.
My husband thought that the girl was stupid because she ran weird with a stick. Then I had to tell him she was blind. I still make fun of him for that!!!!

The Villiage is a dumb movie and the director does not know how to direct what so ever!
